Environmental Compliance Coordinator

Job Summary

 

This position is responsible for coordinating NPDES and drinking water programs at the Fossil Hydro division level to maintain and continually improve compliance with environmental regulations and permits, as well as conformance with corporate policies and procedures.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Serve as the NPDES and drinking water subject matter expert
  • Review and comment upon proposed local, state and federal regulations and permits
  • Coordinate the respective CWA and SDWA compliance programs and respond to new requirements and needs with internal stakeholders
  • Develop and implement training and inspection packages to maintain and enhance compliance programs
  • Serve as the compliance point-of-contact with local, state, and federal environmental agency personnel
  • Perform quality assurance reviews upon agency-required reports as prepared by others, as well as generate internal and regulatory-required submittals
  • Review and comment on environmental aspect for plant capital projects.
  • This position is subject to a rotating call-out schedule in support of the division’s emergency response program and is subject to after hours, weekend, and holiday work in outdoor and industrial environments during inclement weather conditions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

 

  • A valid SC driver’s license and proficiency in the use of business computer applications to include Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint) is required.  
  • The successful candidate must possess strong data analysis and technical writing skills, strong interpersonal skills, strong decision-making skills, and well developed organizational skills.  
  • The successful candidate must be able to prioritize tasks effectively and contribute to the success of the organization collaboratively and individually as needs dictate.

 

Preferred experience includes:  

  • Regulatory compliance program development/coordination, familiarity with Clean Water Act (CWA) and Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) analytical methods, familiarity with CWA/NPDES toxicity investigations and issues, familiarity with thermal and entrainment/impingement studies, and possess a practical understanding of drinking water and wastewater treatment technologies and applications.

Education Requirements

  • This position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental, Biology, Chemistry, or other science-related field and 2-5 years of experience in a related field.  
  • You may substitute High School and 10-13 years of experience in a related field, or an Associate Degree and 6-9 years in a related field.
