Job Summary

This Construction and Maintenance Leadership position is responsible for overseeing, directing, and providing technical assistance in order to develop and maintain a knowledgeable workforce; ensuring that daily activities are aligned with Corporate Objectives; and, managing all aspects of Human Resource issues, safety, employee relations, training, morale, and business review / safety meetings for local employees. Position also performs the following: 1) coordinates with internal and external customers, local and state officials, and trade allies to ensure that customers’ needs are consistently met in a safe, timely, and profitable manner; 2) ensures that all NC Utilities Commission, Department of Transportation, and company standards are followed consistently for emergency response, main and service installation, and other regulated duties in order to provide and maintain a safe and reliable system; 3) supervises/coordinates the daily activities of Construction and Maintenance Department employees and operations assistants;  and 4) assigns work to selected contractors for construction and Operations and Maintenance activities.  In addition, position is responsible for scheduling maintenance and repair of company vehicles and facilities; resolving customer inquiries and complaints about Company regulated and non-regulated construction work; answering technical questions for internal and external customers; developing, reviewing and monitoring local budget; and representing the Company at local and company events.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

5+ years of experience in natural gas  and/or utility construction operations or related field wit leadership experience OR High School Diploma or GED and the ability to obtain a Department of Transportation TSI certificate and 13+ years of related experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree. Must be able to demonstrate strong supervisory skills including: ability to influence, lead, direct, coach, mentor, train, develop and manage employees; implement and manage a budget, short- and long term goals and objectives; critical thinking, problem-solving, analytical, strong project management and time management skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills; must have excellent computer knowledge and skills in Microsoft products, knowledge and skills and ability to learn the company’s computer systems/programs like CSR/CIS, LDF, Map Frame, SIMS and PeopleSoft is preferred; must be able to demonstrate ability to achieve organizational results by conveying information in a clear, concise, and honest manner, effectively meets or exceeds the needs of internal and external customers by balancing business, customer and organizational requirements, assume ownership for individual and organizational results through ethical business practices, proactively identifying challenges and utilizing resources effectively to solve problems and make decisions, positively influencing others toward the achievement of individual and organizational results, safely achieving high quality results that contribute to the achievement of business and organizational objectives.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Must have a valid driver's license with safe driving record and ability to obtain Department of Transportation TSI certificate
