Job Summary
Dominion Energy South Carolina has openings for Apprentice Linemen for Electric Transmission Operations in the Aiken, SC area. Selected candidates will be responsible for assisting with the construction, operation, and maintenance of overhead and electric lines on our transmission system.
Responsibilities include:
- Consistently adhere to safety rules to work in proximity of high and low voltage electric equipment
- Regularly climb and work from power poles 50-225 feet or more, and other tall structures
- Safely handle heavy/bulky equipment and materials
- Be available to respond to work after hours, scheduled overtime, callouts and urgent needs 24 hours/day, 7 days/week
- Work outside in inclement weather conditions
- Successfully complete the four (4) year apprenticeship training program which includes both written and hands-on instruction
This position pays a starting hourly rate of $25.99.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Minimum Requirements (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):
• 0 – 3 years of directly related experience (starting at $25.99/hour)
Additional requirements:
- High School diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license with a good driving history
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL-Class A) within six (6) months of hire
- Must be able to regularly climb and work from utility poles 40 feet or more
- Carry and work with bulky equipment and material
- Be available for to work after hours, scheduled overtime, and callout 24 hours/day, 7 days/week
- Work outside in heat and cold, frequently in inclement weather condition
- Be safety conscious and work in proximity of high and low voltage electrical equipment
- Must successfully complete SCE&G's 4-year apprenticeship training program
- Must be in excellent physical condition, strong mechanical skills, and ability to work long hours during emergencies and/or storm restoration
- Must live within a 20-mile radius (30 minute drive) of the position's service territory/work.
Education Requirements
Completion of high school or equivalent (i.e., GED) is required.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving history. Commercial Driver's License (CDL-Class A)-must have the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
