Pre-Employment Testing

Dominion Energy uses pre-employment testing for select positions to help evaluate job-related skills, abilities, and work styles that are important for success. All assessments are validated, job-related, fair, and consistently applied.

Important: You must apply for a position and be selected before being invited to complete any pre-employment testing.

When does testing occur?

  1. Apply for a position
  2. Your qualifications are reviewed
  3. If selected, you receive testing instructions
  4. Results are reviewed along with interviews and experience

Administrative Support Testing (Online)

Used for clerical and administrative support roles. These assessments are completed online and typically take about one hour.

Tests are timed, and scores are based on both accuracy and speed.

Assessments may include

  • Proofreading
  • Clarifying and Coding
  • Microsoft Word (simulated)
  • Microsoft Excel (simulated)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint (simulated)
Tip: Work efficiently, but focus on accuracy — both are important.

Craft, Skilled Trades & Technical Testing (On‑site)

Dominion Energy uses the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) test battery for many craft, skilled trades, and technical positions.

These tests are administered on‑site and scheduled in advance.

Practice tests

EEI practice tests are available to help you become familiar with the format and content of the real assessment. Practice tests are for preparation only and do not guarantee success.
