Job Summary

Provides biological and ecological support for collection, analysis, and reporting of scientific data collected at Millstone Power Station and other Dominion generating facilities.  Participates in investigations, surveys, and planning for evaluation of company-related activities that may impact the environment.  Participates in meetings with government regulatory agencies, on required biological and water quality activities.  Designs and implements field studies.  Leads field studies to monitor the effects of Dominion facilities on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.  Assimilates and analyzes data, conducts reviews of related research, and compiles information into scientifically defensible technical reports.  Assists with sampling of ground water, surface water, and sediment for governmental regulatory compliance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experiences (Minimum Requirements)

  • Advanced knowledge of ecological principles     
  • Ability to work outdoors for prolonged periods
  • Knowledge of computer applications
  • Familiarity with Dominion safety policies and practices.
  • Knowledge of a company or organizational's operations.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experiences (Preferred)

  • Ability to operate research vessels
  • Experience with long-term fisheries independent surveys
  • Ability to perform computer data analysis on large datasets using SAS software
  • Knowledge of and experience with benthic invertebrate and ichthyoplankton sample processing and taxonomy
  • Familiarity with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitting and EPA CWA 316 (a) and (b) rules

 

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:  Bachelor

 Master's degree is preferred.

Boat operator's license preferred. A valid state driver's license is required.
