Job Summary

Supervises the preparation of federal and state income based tax returns (consolidated income and unitary returns) and franchise tax returns for various business segments.  Ensures compliance with federal, state and local tax laws as applicable.  Reviews quarterly income and franchise tax accruals. Reviews and coordinates income tax accounting and reporting within various audited financial statements.  

Supervises general tax research and refers significant issues to management and assists with special projects.  Assists in preparation of annual budget and five-year plan for forecasted current and deferred taxes.  Provides technical support in preparation of responses to federal, state and local tax officials, and regulatory authorities.  Assists in providing tax consulting services to other functional areas.  

Participates in industry organizations to assist in development of policy positions and assessing impact of proposed legislation and lobbying efforts.  Coordinates and utilizes consultants and legal counsel where appropriate.
 

Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

8-10 years experience in federal, state and/or local taxes in income tax fields (corporate income tax compliance, partnership tax compliance, consolidated returns, tax research and income tax accounting) and/or related experience or 7 years of public accounting experience.  Note:  A partial year of experience of six months or more will be rounded up to one year.

Other required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience include:
 

-Relevant experience in a large corporate tax department and/or partnership tax experience preferred.

-Management experience overseeing diverse group of tax professionals.

-Excellent leadership and verbal and written communication skills.

-Proven supervision and motivation skills.

-Demonstrated ability to delegate responsibilities and allocate resources.

-Proven expertise in tax research and risk analysis.

-Knowledge of operations and accounting systems of company.

-Advanced computer systems experience.

Education Requirements

Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Master

Required: Bachelor

Preferred Disciplines:  Tax, Accounting, Finance

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
CPA and/or CMI preferred.
