Job Summary
This role is responsible for providing stakeholder, format, and interactive guidance to Dominion Energy Corporate Affairs and other externally facing Virginia leaders (e.g. Vice President of State Regulation and public policy leadership) for stakeholder engagements, focused on top of mind public policy and regulatory issues and other issues as may be appropriate from a public policy or regulatory perspective. The incumbent will leverage but not duplicate the work of executive communications and external affairs by ensuring that designated company representatives have a granular view of the audience, stakeholder interests, folkways, and delivery formats employed at the given engagement. This will include advance work at the events itself, working with meeting organizers as appropriate, and one on one engagement with the applicable internal leader well in advance of and immediately prior to the given engagement.
This role is responsible for creating and implementing strategy and planning for specific public policy and regulatory engagements to optimize the company’s stakeholder relations. This role gives guidance on how to optimize external engagements to further those goals. Advances and prepares senior leaders for external affairs events and other interactions with the wider communities to strengthen Dominion Energy's relationships with outside entities. Identifies synergies and partnership opportunities across stakeholder engagements. Identifies lessons learned and delivers coaching as needed to improve engagement.
Ensures executives are well-prepared with pre-event briefings, audience insights and event logistics. Provides coaching and feedback to enhance speaking skills and presentation delivery. Engages with stakeholders to gather audience insights to refine engagements. Monitors and evaluates the impact of public speaking engagements and opportunities for improvement.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
10-14+ years of related experience. Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience towards the experience requirement.
Specific knowledge, skills, abilities and experience include:
- Proven ability to develop engaging content and presentations for diverse audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise executives effectively.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Ability to work collaboratively across business units.
- Proficiency in leveraging social media and digital platforms for event promotion.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
- Strategic thinking and planning skills.
- Ability to exercise discretion in decision-making and confidential matters.
- Strong analytical skills to assess the impact of speaking engagements and identify areas for growth.
Education Requirements
Degree or equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Master preferred
