Engineer I - Battery Storage

Job Summary

At this time, Dominion Energy cannot transfer nor sponsor a work visa for this position. This position does not offer relocation assistance. 

Entry or developmental level position providing engineering support and coordination efforts within the Project Construction group. Performs engineering calculations, analysis, research and design. Under direction of manager or work leader, performs routine assignments designed to develop professional engineering work knowledge, gain familiarity with techniques, approaches, practices and the nature of engineering systems, equipment, etc. and to develop the ability to apply fundamental engineering principles and techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out sequence of related engineering tasks. Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. 

This position will be responsible for coordinating, planning and communicating with internal and external stakeholders to identify, track and progress project deliverables. Assist team with ensuring projects meet required scope, schedule, and budget. Types of projects include, but are not limited to, energy storage projects. 

The position will be located in Richmond, Virginia, with project responsibilities throughout Virginia within Dominion’s service territory. Site visits and/or temporary assignment should be anticipated. 

Additional responsibilities may include: 

Assist with defining project scope and objectives 

Assist with preparing and submitting bid proposals to external vendors 

Assist with evaluating contractor and supplier bids for award 

Assist with managing contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables 

Identify appropriate stakeholders and resources needed 

Coordinate and monitor the work of team members, driving timely completion of deliverables 

Coordinate informational sessions with external vendors/suppliers .

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences required for entry into this job include the following:

0-2+ years of engineering experience;

Basic knowledge of engineering concepts, fundamentals and theory;

Oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing);

Effective decision making skills;

Computer skills and application of software programs;

Analytical and abstract thinking skills;

Problem solving skills;

Ability to learn to apply engineering theories and concepts to complex problems;

Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices;

Ability to develop effective planning, project and organization skills;

Ability to develop project management skills and to handle multiple tasks;

Ability to work within a team environment. 

Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or more rounds to one full year of qualifications. The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications. 

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5 , W1-W2, or 01-03, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined.

Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering

Electrical or Mechanical Preferred

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA: 
 
For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met: 
 
Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or 
 

Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or 

Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a postgraduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or 
 

Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or 
 

Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
