Circuits Engineer - Senior Network Analyst

Job Summary

This is an experienced level engineering position providing detailed DS0, DS1, DS3, Ethernet, FXO, FXS, 4-wire E&M, VPRN, VPLS, and pseudo-wire circuit designs for Dominion’s internal SONET and MPLS Transport Networks.  engineering, implementation planning, and coordination across multiple infrastructure teams.

Tasks will include working with our internal customers to determine the circuit requirements, designing the circuit, creating cost estimates, creating job orders, managing the installation of the circuit across Dominion’s internal DACS, channel bank, SONET and MPLS networks, and documenting the circuit in our Network Management System.  Additional tasks include coordinating with our leased circuits group when a circuit has a leased circuit component. 

Provide highly skilled technical assistance / consultation services to various business units. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Required Experience:

Bachelor's degree plus 5 years directly related experience, or Associates plus 7 years experience or High School Diploma/GED plus 9 years experience.

 

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive design and provisioning experience with DS0, DS1, DS3, Ethernet, FXO, FXS, 4-wire E&M, VPRN, VPLS, and pseudo-wire circuits.
     
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of installing and provisioning hardware and circuits associated with Digital Access Cross-Connect Systems (DACS) and Channel Banks.
     
  • An understanding of the basic theory of SONET and MPLS Transport Networks.
     
  • Effective oral and written communication skills necessary to interact with Dominion Energy engineering teams and vendors.
     
  • Effective computer skills including detailed knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Products to include Visio, Power Point, Excel, Word, and Outlook.

 

Preferred Job Qualifications:

Knowledge of the Dominion Energy Transport Network infrastructure
 

Education Requirements
Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor , Other Education: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Math or Business or technical equivalent.
