Job Summary

Dominion Energy is looking for an Associate Tax Accountant or Tax Accountant. There is one position available which will be filled compensurate with the candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Duties consist of the following:


Associate Tax Accountant


Under direct supervision, this role prepares assigned federal, state and/or local tax returns, tax payments, tax budgets, and tax accruals; may assist in the preparation of annual budgets, including actual to budget variances, as assigned. Assists with preparing information for financial statement and regulatory filings and with drafting responses for internal and external audits of financial statements, regulatory filings, internal controls, and tax returns. Assists with research of tax issues and preparation of tax memorandums.  Participates on project teams, as assigned.


Tax Accountant


This role prepares assigned federal, state and/or local tax returns and tax payments in compliance with applicable tax laws; Prepares assigned tax accruals in accordance with applicable financial or regulatory reporting requirements and associated controls. Prepares, for management review, information for financial statements and regulatory filings. May prepare annual budgets and actual to budget variances, as assigned. May assist with drafting responses for internal and external audits of financial statements, regulatory filings, internal controls and tax returns. Researches basic tax, accounting, or business issues related to assigned entities or projects and prepares tax memorandums, or other communications. Contributes to special projects, as assigned. May review work of other tax personnel.

Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Associate Tax Accountant:

 

  • 0 - 2 years related experience;
  • Fundamental awareness of concepts regarding tax laws and tax accounting practices and procedures;
  • Excellent Excel skills, including experience working with pivot tables, functions, multiple spreadsheets.
  • Working knowledge of other Microsoft Office products such as Powerpoint, Outlook
  • Good written communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to prioritize and to manage time well;
  • Attention to detail and demonstrated active listening skills;


Tax Accountant:

 

  • At least 3 years of accounting experience to include at least 1 year of experience working in a public accounting firm or in a corporate tax department (Note:  A Master's degree will count as one year toward the experience requirement; A partial year of experience of six months or more will be rounded up to one year)
  • Fundamental awareness combined with practical experience that supports a basic understanding of concepts regarding tax laws and tax accounting practices and procedures;
  • Excellent Excel skills, including experience working with pivot tables, functions, multiple spreadsheets;
  • Strong working knowledge of other Microsoft Office products such as Power Point and Outlook;
  • Good written communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to prioritize and to manage time well;
  • Attention to detail and demonstrated active listening skills;
  • Technical ability to interpret tax laws and to prepare general tax research memorandums
  • Experience working with RPA programs such as Alteryx is a plus.

Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor
