Supervisor-Integrity Management Program

Job Summary

This position will oversee and supervise the team responsible for Transmission Integrity Management, Distribution Integrity Management, and Underground Storage Integrity Management within Dominion’s Ohio and West Virginia natural gas territory. The incumbent will interact with various Dominion Energy departments, peer companies and the industry, and industry organizations.  Drive a consistent, Integrity Management Program (IMP) across all of Gas Distribution. Share best practices, risk ranking methodology, preventative and mitigative measures, and continued maintenance of the program. Work with all stakeholders to ensure buy-in of Integrity initiatives and activities.  Assist in evaluating and implementing proper policies and procedures that address current and new rule makings from PHMSA and State regulatory agencies related to the Integrity Management program. Determine how to best ensure and demonstrate compliance for Dominion Energy’s Integrity programs. Manage the day-to-day work of the integrity team and coordinates integrity work with the different groups within the gas distribution business units that are responsible for this work.  Prepare or provide input on capital budgets; and operating budgets; and address employee attendance, performance and evaluations.  
The position will be located in Ohio (various office locations are acceptable).


Additional responsibilities may include:
•    Implement and provides long-term support of applicable elements of the Pipeline Safety Management Systems (API RP 1173).
•    Ensure continuous improvement of Integrity programs and focuses on the continued alignment of our integrity programs between the different gas distribution business units.
•    Act as a subject matter expert and facilitator to the team. 
•    Support new ideas to meet compliance and support budgetary needs. 
•    Support evaluation and consideration of new assessment methodologies. 
•    Interact with internal customers, to evaluate and meet support needs. 
•    Support internal and external audits of integrity program records and procedures. 
•    Ensure employees meet safety and training requirements which include: adherence to SOP’s, technical training, safety observations, and safety tailgates. 
•    Hire and/or replace new positions or vacancies within the department
•    Appraise and resolve unusual or difficult customer or functional inquiries by working cross functionally with business units.
•    Establish metrics that meet or exceed customer and Company goals and objectives while ensuring adherence to department policy and procedure.
•    Provide oversight of contractors performing integrity related work.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering - as follows below) and 7+ years directly related experience.


Directly Related Experience includes:  pipeline compliance, utility construction/design, field operations, damage prevention, quality control, environmental or safety discipline, or construction management.

Skills: Strong communication skills to support team and provide outreach to all stakeholders in supporting and implementing new or modified policies, procedures, or programs. Proficient personal computer skills. Regulatory development process (PHMSA, State).  Risk assessment and management, and pipeline repair principles and practices. Demonstrated leadership and supervisor qualities.

Abilities: Ability to lead others. Establish and maintain effective relationships at all levels in the organization and across the different business units. Develop, direct, and motivate a staff in a team environment. Define problems, collect and analyze data, and draw conclusions. Resolve conflicts, based upon technical reasoning. Plan and organize work and meet compliance deadlines. Delegate work assignments.  Understand applicable Regulatory codes, Industry Standards (e.g. 49 CFR, ASME, ANSI, API), company policies and procedures.

Must have valid driver's license and be able to drive.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering) and 9+ years directly related experience, or
  • 3+ years supervisory/project lead or project management experience, or
  • 3+ years’ experience in natural gas pipeline compliance/design, construction, or pipeline integrity management experience.
  • Experience with integrity methods (in line inspection (ILI), pressure testing, or direct assessment methods), or
  • Experience with corrosion/cathodic protection practices and principles.
  • Familiar with data analysis methodologies and processes.
  • Experience with risk management principles.

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA: For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:

  • Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
  • Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
  • Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
  • Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry or Math and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
  • Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
