Senior Instructor - Mechanical

Job Summary


The Nuclear Training Department at North Anna Power Station is seeking a Senior Mechanical Instructor.


Job Responsibilities:


  • This role analyzes, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates performance-based technical training programs.
  • Maintains technical subject matter expertise and a thorough understanding of current business processes.
  • Acts as subject matter expert in specific area of technical (operational) expertise.
  • Consults with business partners to clarify and define work procedures and processes and develop and document new work procedures and processes.
  • Keeps abreast of current regulatory initiatives and assess their impact on instructor training.


The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications outlined below.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Bachelor degree and 5+ years of experience with full competency in hands on mechanical or mechanical instruction OR;
  • Associate degree and 7+ years of experience with full competency in hands on mechanical or mechanical instruction OR;
  • High School diploma/GED and 9+ years of experience with full competency in hands on mechanical or mechanical instruction


In Addition:

  • Completion of the Dominion Nuclear Mechanic Development Program preferred
  • In-depth subject matter expertise in technical area of instruction
  • Thorough understanding of business processes related to area of instruction
  • In depth knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design
  • Proficiency in equipment operation/troubleshooting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent personal computer skills
  • Competence in using software applications critical to target audience
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Good coaching skills
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision
  • Ability to analyze job tasks and develop training materials
  • Ability to train and lead others
  • Ability to interface with regulatory personnel and industry peers


Note:  A partial year of work experience of 6 months or greater will count as one year toward the required years of experience.  A Master's degree will count as one year toward the required years of experience.


Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W-1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above are encouraged to apply.

Bachelor Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Graduate of related Dominion Development Program preferred North Anna and Surry must meet ANS 3.1 12/79, Section Candidates for Sr Instructor positions in Nuclear at Innsbrook must meet ANSI/ANS 3.1 1993, Section 4.5.4
