LNG Technician (Electrical)

Job Summary

The Electrical and Controls LNG Technician (Electrical) reports directly to the Electrical and Controls Supervisor and is a member of multi-disciplined work force responsible for the SAFE and Reliable Operation and Maintenance of a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) import/export and re-gasification terminal, including LNG process systems, infrastructure, controls, emergency response, Electrical and Emergency Power Generation, Turbine and Auxiliary Control Support Systems, and Distributed Control System (DCS).

Dedication and sensitivity to safety issues and compliance with policies and procedures is essential for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the terminal.The successful candidate must be willing to work in an industrial environment, with the bulk of their time spent performing field work including the inspection, testing, service, repair, configuration, calibration, and installation of medium and low-voltage class generators, transformers, switchgear, Motor-Control Centers (MCC), panelboards, AC Inverters, DC Chargers and Batteries, Motors, heaters, HVAC and related components.

The Electrical LNG Technician (Electrical) works on complex and detailed systems and analyzes, troubleshoots and repairs electrical generation, distribution, protection and control systems, and replaces component parts as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications outlined below.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years' experience in an industrial setting in process/product maintenance and operations, depending on type of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of the Plant Electrical Power Generation and Distribution system, and adheres to safety protocols
  • Basic understanding of all plant utilities and sub-systems, including air, water, power generation, sanitation and nitrogen
  • Applied knowledge of electrical and controls such as medium and low-voltage generators, motors, switchgear, motor control centers, Variable Speed Drives (VFD) , circuit breakers, protective and network relaying, fuses, cabling, power, current instrument and transformers, Lighting, HVAC, AC Inverters and DC Chargers, batteries Control Systems etc.
  • Familiar with the requirements of NFPA 70 - National Electric Code, NFPA 70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace and applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations etc.
  • Working knowledge of the hazards and safety requirements for working in proximity of rotating machinery and equipment capable of severe electrical shock, arc-flash or hazardous atmospheres
  • Previous work experience demonstrating technical knowledge of industrial electrical systems Knowledge of environmental regulations
  • Ability to perform field equipment calibrations
  • Ability to provide guidance and/or training to less experienced Electrical Technicians and Operators
  • Basic computer skills with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and SAP applications
  • Analytical and deductive reasoning skills, oral and written communication skills, technical writing skills, electrical skills, and mathematical skills
  • Capability to troubleshoot and solve equipment or process problems
  • Capability to conduct site inspections or walk downs, including working at heights
  • Capability to maintain drawings and configuration control of documentation as related to the industrial electrical system
  • Recent experience with LNG is preferred, however, petrochemical NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, industrial power plant or hydrocarbon processing experience may be considered
Education Requirements
