Job Summary

Dominion Energy South Carolina is looking to hire a Network Analyst/Sr. Network Analyst in Columbia SC to support Dominion Energy’s internal MPLS Network. Dominion Energy’s owns and operates a private MPLS Network to provide telecommunication services for the various business areas in the company.  This network uses a combination of private fiber connections as well as lease line services spanning across NC and SC.

 

One position is available which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.


Primary job duties include, but not limited to:

  • Design, Install and provision of transport equipment and ethernet services supporting MPLS network
  • Testing, deployment, and documentation supporting system upgrades, patches, and maintenance window activities.
  • Respond to system and service outages as well as storm/disaster support
  • Participate in maintenance window cutovers and system grooms
  • Installation and wiring of routers/switches along with coordination with multiple groups for configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Effectively identify and utilizes the proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems encountered in work assignments.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Network Analyst: 3 years of networking and telecommunication experience with strong skillset in network engineering and system administration.

Senior Network Analyst: 5 years of networking and telecommunication experience with strong skillset in network engineering and system administration.

  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong engineering and operational skills in TCP/IP, Ethernet and MPLS environments: IS-IS, OSPF, BGP and EIGRP
  • RSVP TE, LDP, Fast Reroute and Bidirectional Forwarding
  • TDMoIP and Circuit Emulation: SolarWinds – NPM and NCM
  • Working knowledge of fiber circuits, MPLS and other LAN/WAN data circuits
  • Working knowledge of DC plant 48 and 135v systems, along with the associated grounding and connection requirements
  • Skilled in the use of LAN, fiber, and wireless test equipment
  • Skilled in the termination and troubleshooting of various cabling types to include fiber, CAT5/6
  • Familiarity with color coding requirements for cable identification, terminating and testing

Add'l Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Must be safety and environmentally conscious as well as detailed oriented.
  • Physical Ability: Must be able to lift 50 pounds alone
  • Must be able to see color and distinguish between colors.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing
  • Strong problem solving/troubleshooting
  • Ability to process information quickly and function under high stress situations
  • Equally effective working independently or in a team environment

 

Skills not required, but are considered pluses are:

  • Experience with Nokia and Ciena transport equipment
  • Commissioning and troubleshooting DWDM systems
  • Circuit Vision
  • Electrical/Electronic background

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Preferred Discipline(s): Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Math or Business or technical equivalent
