Job Summary

This position installs pipe in ditches, manually digs around utilities, and pressure tests steel and plastic lines. Responsible for participating in the repair of third party damage to natural gas lines and various types of gas leaks, competing pipe maintenance activities, safely driving a company vehicle, setting up common Department of Transportation approved work sites and flagging traffic, maintains truck inventory, and installing test charts. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

0-6 months experience. Must have a good mechanical aptitude including knowledge and skills with common hand and power tools, ability to use self-contained breathing apparatus equipment, a demonstrated knowledge of safety procedures, effective communication skills for customer interactions, and a willingness to work with others in a team environment. Must be available for natural gas emergency response after normal working hours. Must have basic computer skills and reside within 45 minute response time from the geographical center of the assigned area.  Heavy lifting up to 70 lbs. is required.  Bilingual (Spanish) candidates preferred. 

Education Requirements

Completion of high school or equivalent (i.e., GED) is required.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving record and the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License within 6 months.
