Associate Claims Agent/Adjuster

Job Summary

The role of Associate Claims Agent will perform the following responsibilities:

  • Investigates and processes claims to ensure company is properly reimbursed for damages to company property.
  • Prepares reports and collects supporting information including sketches, photographs, signed statements, police reports, recorded statements, witness interviews, etc.
  • Resolves gas and electric claims and collections.
  • Testifies and assists attorneys in gathering of evidence.
  • Participates in company's litigation defense related to third party damage of gas and electric facilities.
  • Identifies and locates potential witnesses and exhibits for evidence, attends depositions, prepares answers to interrogatories and requests for production of documents, etc.
  • Prepares responses to information requests from other departments, legal counsel, insurance carriers and brokers, third parties, vendors, partners and joint owners. Investigates property losses and coordinates preparation of insurance claim packages.
  • Negotiates settlements in relations to third party damages in regards to DE facilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

0 to 2 years related experience;

Specific knowledge, skills, abilities and experience include:

  • At least one year of claims, collection and subrogation experience is preferred but not required;
  • Knowledge of company construction and safety standards as well as related gas and electric operating policies and procedures;
  • Knowledge of company's businesses and associated risk exposures;
  • Knowledge of industry safety codes, regulations and standards;
  • Knowledge of legal process regarding lawsuits and third party claims and collections;
  • Good negotiation, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • Abilities:  Good problem solving; Logical reasoning; Setting priorities; Developing goals; Motivating others; Analyzing and organizing complex information;
  • Excellent personal computer skills including Word, Adobe and Power Point; SAP and Riskmaster knowledge is a plus.

The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications outlined above.

  • Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above.
