Job Summary

The Analyst / Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) position is responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of the company's operating and capital budgets and forecasts.  Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

•    Assist in the development of timely and accurate consolidated budgets and forecasts
•    Assist in the monthly actual-to-forecast variance analysis process 
•    Monitor and report performance against long-range financial plans
•    Prepare consolidated forecasted financial statements 
•    Work with business operations to develop operating and capital budgets and forecasts
•    Perform analysis to assess financial implications of capital expenditures and major new projects
•    Provide input on ways to improve budgeting and planning processes
•    Assist with the implementation and maintenance of budget/forecast systems 
•    Develop written procedures and schedules for the budget and forecast processes
•    Maintain operational and financial controls and safeguards related to financial planning processes and systems
•    Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

•    3+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting or related field, preferably with a regulated utility 
•    Knowledge of regulated utility industry accounting standards and practices –  preferred
•    Knowledge of financial management and analysis tools and techniques
•    Aptitude for continuous learning
•    Experience in developing models and/or analyses for planning and forecasting operating and capital spending – preferred 
•    Ability to identify and eliminate unnecessary work and non-value added activities
•    Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
•    Proficient with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
•    Hyperion experience – preferred 
 

Education Requirements

Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: 

 

•    Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field
•    Working towards an MBA or advanced degree– preferred

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

•    Working towards a professional certification (CPA, CMA or FPAC) preferred
