Job Summary

BHE GT&S  is an interstate natural gas transmission and storage company headquartered in Richmond, VA with operations in 10 states.  As a standalone subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, the energy we provide supports a number of large customers, including major utilities, power plants, and other countries. Our goal is safe and reliable energy production, delivery, and storage. 


Join our team as a Senior Controls Specialist!  This is a key role for putting our core principles into action by coordinating and collaborating with partners to ensure projects are implemented on time and on budget for natural gas facilities and pipelines. 


This position will report from our office in Richmond, VA, Bridgeport, WV or Columbia, SC.  Flexible work arrangements, including remote, hybrid, or compressed schedules may be available, and are not guaranteed.  Relocation assistance available if eligible.  


Some of your daily tasks will include: 

  • Establishes, implements, and maintains financial controls for has infrastructure construction projects including forecasts, cashflows, contingency and variance analysis for major projects.
  • Responsible for developing the work breakdown structure and project forecast based on the approved capital budget.
  • Monitors actual project cost and/or work status, ensuring projects proceed on schedule and within budget and provide status reports to management.
  • Provides monthly accruals and cashflow forecast updates to corporate Finance.
  • Conducts meetings with contractors and company personnel on cost control matters.
  • Develop and review project estimates.
  • Financial subject matter expert. Collaborates with project management, site staff and contractors to compile and analyze data to mitigate current or future financial risks and opportunities that could impact the project.
  • Provides financial expertise and analysis in support of invoice approvals, change order requests and other contract negotiations.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate internal control safeguards to ensure compliance and accurate reporting to project management and executive leadership.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • 5-6+ years of relevant exempt experience in directly related field

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
