Job Summary


BHE GT&S  has an exciting Income Tax Manager position available at BHE GT&S Headquarters office located in Richmond, VA. Flexible work arrangements including hybrid and compressed work schedules may be available, but are not guaranteed.


BHE GT&S is an interstate natural gas transmission and storage company headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, that became a standalone subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy in November 2020. We operate more than 5,560 miles of gas transmission line and 756 Bcf of underground storage in the eastern U.S., along with gathering, processing and field services businesses. We operate in 12 states. BHE GT&S is an industry leader in liquefied natural gas solutions, through initiatives such as Pivotal LNG and our 25% operating stake in the Cove Point LNG facility in Lusby, Maryland.  The energy we deliver supports major distribution utilities, power plants and manufacturing. Our premier storage operations provide dependable, flexible support for direct customers and neighboring pipelines. At our multiple interconnects – especially the liquid South Point hub – BHE GT&S services support both producers and consumers, ensuring competitive access to abundant energy.


Responsibilities include: 

  • Serves as the BHE GT&S primary contact on income tax matters.
  • Manages income tax function, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of all federal, state, and local income tax returns, and monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. 
  • Assists in preparing and reviewing effective tax rate analysis, tax roll-forward schedules, cash tax reports, estimated income tax payments, and other tax-related schedules. 
  • Manages quarterly estimates paid to federal and state authorities.  
  • Supports tax planning and forecasting.  
  • Provides written and/or oral responses and testimony to federal, state, and regulatory authorities, and supports all regulatory matters concerning income taxes. 
  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilties, and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

  • At least seven years' big four or industry equivalent tax experience.
  • Strong federal, state, and local income tax compliance experience.
  • Strong tax consolidation experience, both with financial statements and tax returns. 
  • Working knowledge of tax systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state tax laws, tax compliance systems, regulatory and tax accounting, and company operations.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts to others.
  • Knowledge of tax research methodology.
  • Affiliation with national, state and industry tax associations.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Effective analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Certified public accountant preferred.
