Job Summary
BHE GT&S has an exciting Associate Income Tax Accountant and/or Income Tax Accountant position available in our BHE GT&S Headquarters office in Richmond, VA office. Flexible work arrangements including hybrid or compressed schedule may be available.
BHE GT&S is an interstate natural gas transmission and storage company headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, that became a standalone subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy in November 2020. We operate more than 5,560 miles of gas transmission line and 756 Bcf of underground storage in the eastern U.S., along with gathering, processing and field services businesses. We operate in 12 states. BHE GT&S is an industry leader in liquefied natural gas solutions, through initiatives such as Pivotal LNG and our 25% operating stake in the Cove Point LNG facility in Lusby, Maryland. The energy we deliver supports major distribution utilities, power plants and manufacturing. Our premier storage operations provide dependable, flexible support for direct customers and neighboring pipelines. At our multiple interconnects – especially the liquid South Point hub – BHE GT&S services support both producers and consumers, ensuring competitive access to abundant energy.
- This role may prepare and/or review all assigned federal, state and/or local tax returns, tax payments, and tax accruals, in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and established policies and procedures.
- Prepares information for financial statements and regulatory filings.
- Prepares annual tax budgets and maintains actual to budget variances, as assigned.
- Prepares responses for internal and external audits of financial statements, regulatory filings, internal controls, and tax returns. Researches tax, accounting, or business issues related to assigned entities or projects, and formulates and provides recommendations to management.
- May coordinate special projects, including analyzing tax issues in connection with acquisitions, divestures, or new business opportunities; identifying potential tax opportunities; and analyzing the impact of new or proposed tax laws and/or interpretations.
- Assists in training of co-workers and dissemination of new or emerging issues or information.
- Recommends changes to information gathering and tax filing processes.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
There is one position available that will be filled at either the Associate Tax Accountant or Tax Accountant level commensurate with the selected candidate's skills and abilities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Associate Tax Accountant:
- 0-2 years of accounting experience to include experience working in a public accounting firm or in a corporate tax department.
Tax Accountant:
- At least 3 years of accounting experience to include at least 1 year of experience working in a public accounting firm or in a corporate tax department.
Both:
- Fundamental awareness combined with practical experience that supports a basic understanding of concepts regarding tax laws and tax accounting practices and procedures;
- Good written communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to prioritize and to manage time well;
- Attention to detail and demonstrated active listening skills;
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products;
- Technical ability to interpret tax laws and to prepare general tax research memorandums
