Job Summary
Cove Point LNG is seeking an experience Mechanical Engineer II / Mechanical Engineer III to join it's team at our facility in Lusby, MD. The Mechanical Engineer is a member of the Technical Services team in a Liquefaction/Regasification LNG terminal, which includes LNG process systems, infrastructure, and power/steam generation.
Mastery of the subject matter or diversified knowledge of principles and practice in broad areas of assignments and related fields:
- Ensures the rotating machinery availability, reliability and integrity to minimize production down time as well as to facility safety, reliability and production objectives.
- Participates in monitoring and the development of the maintenance strategy.
- Manages and ensures the quality of the rotating machinery service contracts.
- Develops and executes engineering design packages.
- Applies engineering principles, fundamental concepts and practices to solve day-to-day production issues
- Oversees document control and configuration management processes.
- Provides input to operating and capital budgets.
- Performs root cause failure analysis
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
This position requires at least three (3) years of professional oil refining, electric generating, gas or petrochemical industries engineering experience and meets the defined requirements of the Mechanical Engineer II or Mechanical Engineer III listed below.
Mechanical Engineer II
3-4 Years of Professional Engineering Experience
Mechanical Engineer III
5+ Years of Professional Engineering Experience
Both Mechanical Engineer II / Mechanical Engineer III
· Ability to interface proficiently with Microsoft Office applications (Prefer experience with SAP work management system and OSIsoft PI software
· Experience with conditioned based maintenance processes and machinery management software
· Knowledge and application of engineering theories and principles, concepts and fundamentals
· Developmental experience in a professional engineering position
· Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives
· Understanding of and ability to apply knowledge of configuration management
· Ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Minitab, Excel, etc.)
· Planning, organizational and project management skills
· Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills
· Effective decision-making skills
· Effective oral and written communication skills (including technical writing)
· Ability to think analytically and to solve complex problems
· Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices
· Ability to work independently or in a team environment
· Ability to process information quickly and to effectively manage multiple tasks

Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering
REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:
For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:
- Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
- Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
- Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a postgraduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
- Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
- Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
